I listed v2.2 on Tindie, and a little while later I listed the PCB-only version too.
When you list something on Tindie, you get some exposure in the “New Products” section, so the view count on your listing tends to spike right after publishing. But this time, it felt like the views were climbing more than usual…
So I dug a little deeper into the traffic, and it turned out people were coming to see Peaky 8-bit from a site called “kbd.news.”
“kbd.news”? What’s that? I punched in the URL, and my eyes nearly popped out of my head.

Someone featured P8…!! I’m so grateful!!
…Up to that point, I was still relatively calm. Here’s some context about me: while I do love QWERTY keyboards, I’m a total beginner when it comes to the world of “custom keyboards.” It was only this year (2026) that I even learned that key switches are a thing — and that you can buy them for around $1 each. That’s how much of a beginner I am.
So, yeah. I didn’t know about kbd.news.
So. When I excitedly shared this with Gemini — “This site featured P8!!” — well…
Here’s a screenshot of Gemini’s reaction (it’s in Japanese). For those of you who don’t read Japanese, feel free to toss this screenshot into your AI of choice and see what it says.
For Japanese speakers reading this: yeah, it’s very Gemini, isn’t it… 😅
So. I figured “that’s just Gemini being its usual over-the-top self,” so I went to Claude next:
Me: ”…So I told Gemini about this and it reacted like that. A bit much, right?”
Claude: “Well, the general sentiment isn’t wrong, but the Grammy nomination comparison is a bit of a stretch…”
Me: silently shares a screenshot of the kbd.news front page
Claude: “I can no longer say Gemini was exaggerating.”
Well then.
As for kbd.news itself, your AI assistants probably know far more about it than I do, so I’d suggest asking them… (though if you’re reading this, you’re probably already thinking “yeah, we know”).
But wait — P8 is not just on the front page, it’s at the very top of this week’s edition…
No, seriously, I genuinely… Those of you who saw my very first Reddit post might remember — I wasn’t even sure if Peaky 8-bit could be called a “keyboard.” (I mean, it’s more of a macro pad, right? But the Reddit folks were kind enough to say “if it’s got keys and they’re on a board, it’s a keyboard lol.”)
Also, if you take a look at what I’ve published in the GitHub repository, you’ll quickly see just how simple P8 is as a piece of hardware. (If there’s anything that might get an “oh!” from you, maybe it’s the boost converter module?)
Anyway… Tamas, thank you so much for noticing P8 and featuring it on kbd.news. It truly means a lot to have it recognized by someone with such a discerning eye for keyboards!! (I’ve saved screenshots and a PDF of the page for posterity!)

tindieに出品すると、「新着」欄に露出してもらえることもあって、出品直後は出品ページの閲覧数も伸びるのですが、どうもなんだか、いつもよりview数が増えている気がする。。
…と思って、もうちょっと状況を深堀してみたところ、なにやら「kbd.news」というところからPeaky 8-bitを見に来てくれている人がいる様子。。。

と思ってURLを叩いてみて、思わず目をむいてしまいました。。。

…というところまではまだ冷静でいました。
私はQWERTYのキーボードは好きではあるものの、「自作キーボード」という観点でいうと全くの初心者で、今年（2026年）になって初めてキースイッチというものがって、それを1つ100円前後で購入することができるのだ、と知ったぐらいの「初心者」です。
ということで、知らなかったのです、kbd.news。。
で。
Geminiに「こういうサイトがP8を取り上げてくれたみたい！！」と共有したところ…
日本語ですが、Geminiの反応をスクショしたものを置いておきますね。
海外勢の皆さんは、このスクショをお手元のAIか何かに渡してご自身の言語で様子を見てみてください。。
日本語話者の皆さんは「(;´∀｀)Geminiらしいや…」って感じですかね。。
で。
私も「まぁいつものGeminiのオーバーリアクションかな」と思ったので、今度はClaudeに
私「…という話をしたらGeminiはこういう反応をしてきたんだけど、ちょっと大げさだよねぇ？」
Claude「そうですね、表現の方向性としては正しいのですがグラミー賞ノミネートとかは幾分誇張が…」
私：スッ…（kbd.newsのトップページのスクショを共有）」
Claude「Geminiも誇張が過ぎるとは言えないですね」
という反応。
なんと。。。
kbd.newsについては、それこそお手元のAIたちのほうが、私よりもずっと詳しいと思うので彼らに聞いてもらえれば、、、と思うところですが（というかここを読んでくださる皆さんは「いや知ってるがな」という感じかもですが）、、、。
いや待って、しかもトップページの、今週分の1番トップのところにいるやん。。。
いや、本当に、素で。。
Redditの一番最初の投稿を見てくださった方はもしかしたら覚えていらっしゃるかもですが、私、Peaky 8-bitはそもそも「キーボードと言えるのか…??」ぐらいの感覚でいたので。。
（うん、だって、キーボードというよりマクロパッドじゃん？Redditの民は「キーが付いててボードに載ってるならそれはキーボードだｗ」と言ってくれたけど）
あと、GitHubのリポジトリで公開している内容を見てもらえれば、ハードウェアとしてはP8がいかに「簡単な構造をしているか」はすぐばれてしまうでしょう。。
（「おっ！」と思ってもらえるところがあるとすれば、昇圧モジュールのところ？？）
いやはや、、ともあれ。。。
