Peaky 8-bit、v2.2できました！

I assembled the newly arrived v2.2 the other day!
It feels noticeably smaller than v2.1.
Now it’s much more comfortable to use, even for someone like me with shorter fingers!
(I think I can probably shave off about 2mm more in width, but that’ll be for the next update…)
Oh, the case is still this color (translucent pastel blue) for now.
But I really want to switch to translucent gray already…
Also, I made this version hot-swap compatible, and… yeah, it was definitely the right call.
Soldering is so much easier, and the connections are more stable.
Plus I can try out all sorts of key switches now.
As I’ve mentioned a few times before, I believe “silent tactile” key switches are the best fit for the P8 — but for demos (recordings), maybe it’s actually better to go with clicky switches? That thought has crossed my mind, and if so, being able to swap switches freely is a real blessing.
Now that I’ve come this far, maybe I should just go ahead and list it on Tindie and BOOTH without hesitation…
(I’m such a beginner that I’ve been listing things rather timidly…)
My concern is that I haven’t been able to fully test the Bluetooth connectivity in all scenarios — given my setup (the number of PCs I have on hand, etc.) — and I worry about causing trouble for potential buyers.
There are also a few smaller things bugging me:
- The Bluetooth connection seems to drop a bit too easily (though it does reconnect automatically…)
- I still can’t handle inputs like “long press” on keys
And so on…
Well, I suppose I need someone else to actually use it so I can get that kind of feedback on things that need fixing.
(It’s just that with hardware, the bar somehow feels so much higher…)
So here I am, overthinking everything in typical Japanese fashion (?) while continuing to plug away at it.

先日到着したv2.2を組んでみました！
v2.1より一回り小さくなった感じです。
これで、指が長くない私でも使い勝手良くなりました！
（たぶんあと2mmほど横幅を縮められると思うけど、それはまた次のアプデで。。）
あ、ケースはまだこの色（半透明パステルブルー）です。
でももう半透明グレーに移行したい。。
あと、今回はホットスワップ対応にしたのですが、、やっぱ正解だったと思います。
はんだ付けがラクだし、安定する。。
あれこれキースイッチも試すことができる。。
何回か書いている通り、私は「サイレントタクタイル」のキースイッチがP8には向いていると考えているのですが、デモ（録画）の時などはあえてクリッキーなキースイッチにする方がいいかも？という気もする次第でして、そうなるとやはりキースイッチを変更できるのは正義。。
ここまで来れたら、TindieやBOOTHに臆せず出品しても大丈夫かなぁ。。
（初心者過ぎて、遠慮しながら出品している次第。。）
Bluetoothに接続するところが、私の環境（手元のPCの台数など）では検証しきれていない部分がある気がしていて、購入希望者に迷惑をかけてしまわないか？と心配してしまうんですよね。。
あと、こまごまと気になっている点もあります：
- Bluetoothの接続がちょっと切れやすい気がする（自動的に復活するものの。。）
- キーの「長押し」といった入力がまだできない
などなど。。
いや、こういう「直さないといけないところ」をフィードバックとしてもらうために誰かに使ってもらう必要があるのだろうけど、、。
（やはりどうにも、ハードウェアだとハードルを高めに感じてしまう。。）
色々と、日本人らしく（？）悶々としながら作業を進めています。
