- The PCBs for Peaky 8-bit v2.2 have arrived!
- Two DIY Kit listings on Tindie have been switched to “made-to-order” status.
Peaky 8-bit v2.2 PCBs Have Arrived!
I usually order PCBs in the minimum quantity of 5, but this time I went with 10.
I actually only needed 6 boards — enough to build 3 sets — but JLCPCB doesn’t let you specify exactly 6 as a quantity.
Well, the price difference between 5 and 10 was negligible, so no complaints here.
As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, this revision adds hot-swap support (CherryMX-compatible).
This means I can now swap out key switches freely and experiment with different options.
When it comes to selling kits, this also has clear advantages:
- I can bundle the most affordable switches in the package.
- Buyers can install whatever switches they prefer.
By the way, I also have Kailh hot-swap sockets on hand, so I’m looking forward to trying out Kailh low-profile switches down the line.
Here’s the battery holder placed temporarily.
Hmm… I feel like I could have shaved about 2 mm off the left side…
Two Tindie DIY Kit Listings Switched to Made-to-Order
I’ve updated the following two listings to:
- Stock: 0
- Fulfill on request
Items affected:
The reason: each of these kits (one unit in stock each) includes a total of 4 Xiao BLE modules in their packages, and I need those modules for building the newly arrived v2.2 boards.
At roughly $10 (about ¥2,000) per Xiao BLE, they’re not exactly something I can stock up on casually…
(Please, yen, get stronger…)
That said, sourcing Xiao BLEs is never really an issue, so if anyone is interested in the items above, feel free to join the Waiting List or just reach out!

Peaky 8-bit v2.2の基盤が到着しました！
いつもはミニマムの5枚でPCBは発注しているのですが、今回は10枚でオーダーしてみました。
本当は「6枚」あればよいと思っていて、3セット分作れれば、、、と思っていたのですが、JLCPCBさんでの基板枚数指定が6枚では注文ができず。。
まぁ、5枚も10枚も値段はほぼ変わらなかったので、良しとする次第です。
ちょいちょい書いてきた通り、今回は「ホットスワップ対応（CherryMX対応）」にしてみました。
これで、キースイッチをあれこれ試せるようになる。。
販売する場合にも、
- パッケージに同梱するキースイッチを最安のものにできる
- 購入してくれた人の好みのキースイッチにて実装できる
というメリットがあると思います。
ちなみに。
ホットスワップ用のソケットは、Kailh用も入手済みなので、そのうちKailhのロープロファイルのキースイッチも試してみたいところです。

というのも、これらのアイテム（それぞれ在庫１）で、Xiao BLEを計4つパッケージにしているのですが、そのXiao BLEを今回新たに届いたv2.2の作成に利用するためです。
Xiao BLE、約10ドル、日本円だと約2000円ということで、、そうそうやすやすと購入できるものでもない、、という事情がゆえです。
（円高進んで安くなってくれ～。。）
